Funeral services for Danny Holtzclaw, age 77, of Simsboro will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Ray officiating. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery in Douglas under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Danny was born January 17, 1941 and passed away December 14, 2018. He was a lineman for Claiborne Electric for 25 years and for Highlines Construction for 12 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston. Danny was an avid squirrel hunter and enjoyed hunting with his friends and his son, Phil. He always had an outstanding squirrel dog and a keen eye. He also loved to fish and enjoyed gardening. Danny enjoyed traveling with his wife on his motorcycle and liked to ride and train horses with his daughter, Paula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Lena Holtzclaw; brother, Horace Holtzclaw and sister, Inez White.

Danny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Tinsley Holtzclaw; son, Phil Holtzclaw and wife Becky of Arcadia; daughter, Paula Burgess of Simsboro; grandchildren: Christopher Holtzclaw and wife Dannah of Ruston, Lindsey and husband Hunter Carswell of Ruston, Dylan Burgess of Ruston and Austin Burgess and wife Tori of Dubach and a sister, Sybil Foster of Simsboro.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Holtzclaw, Dylan Burgess, Austin Burgess, Randy Callaway, David Williams and Buster Evans. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Callaway, Zeb Ginn and Lebree Gambrell.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Owens Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Ruston or to Saint Rest Baptist Church in Dubach.
