Jackie Lawerence Shores, 79 of Vivian, LA passed away on January 25, 2020 at the nursing home in Vivian due to complications from pneumonia. Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Vivian Cemetery officiated by Rev. Nick Wolfe. Jackie was born on October 9, 1940 to Lawerence Alexander Shores and Maddie Belle Loyd (Momma Shores). He spent his childhood hanging out with his cousins and friends in the wilderness of rural Hosston. He went to school in Vivian until he graduated from North Caddo High School in 1955. From there he went into the armed services where he was stationed in South Korea right by the demarcation line that separated North Korea from South Korea. He told many stories about this experience from detailed accounts of the environment to what soldiers did in their past time. When he came back home he met Ina Westmorland they eventually got married and had three children, Jackie, Brian, and Anita. They struggled by they had a decent life. He worked at Horseshoe Casino until he retired and was a painter on the side. Some would say the best painter in Vivian, most local businesses employed him because of his artistic abilities. He enjoyed family cookouts, diet coke, iced honeybuns, early rock music such as Elvis and Roy Orbison, hunting, and fishing. He also was musically inclined, he played many different instruments including guitar and piano. He raised Phil Shores until he had a stroke and was put in the nursing home where he spent the rest of his life. He was regarded as one of the nicest people you could ever meet and was well liked by most people he came across. He was an amazing father and grandfather, he provided even when he couldn’t afford it. Though he was poor he always seemed happy. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jackie Wayne Shores, Blaine Shores, Josh Wilson, Abby Shores, Phil Shores, and Sean Wilson. He is also survived by his niece Sharon Tulls Haldorsen, and his sons Jackie and Brian Shores. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ina Westmorland Shores who passed January 18, 2017, his brother Phil Shores who died storming the beach in Okinawa, Japan, his sister Maurice Pace, and his other brother Bobby Shores. And finally his daughter Anita Shores Wilson who passed on January 25, 2019.
