Penny Ann Harris Greene, 78, passed away March 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Vivian, LA officiated by Rev. Richard Beeman and Rev. Chris Cheniere. Burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian.

Penny was born March 14, 1937 to Joseph Harris and Mary Shockley Harris in Vivian, LA where she lived most of her life. She has lived in Blanchard since 1998. She was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church. Penny began her teaching career at McLeod, TX in 1959. Through her career she taught at North Caddo High School, Gladewater High School and in retirement taught adult education helping so many attain their GED. Penny was so much more than just an educator. She was a beloved teacher and mentor to countless students throughout North Caddo Parish and east Texas. She sponsored and led many organizations, clubs including the very first devotion club at NCH. Penny was a gifted pianist and played at many churches namely First Baptist Church of Vivian for over 40 years. She helped open Citizen Bank in Vivian in 1966.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, and her uncle Charles “Buddy Boy” Shockley. She is survived by her husband Bobby Jack Greene of Blanchard, LA, her sons Harris Greene and wife Tara (Dololly) and Stephen Greene and wife Nancy of Tyler, TX, her grandson Adam Greene, her sister Nancy Simmons and Travis Sharp of Vivian, her brother Joe Tracy Harris and wife Shelby of El Dorado, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews and all of the members of her friends that felt like family when they were around her.

Pallbearers will be Barry Bigelow, Garrett Bonds, Malcolm Edwards, George Beck, Mike Ryan and Travis Sharp. Honorary pallbearer is Brian Ward.
