COACH LES' OBITUARY
Coach Les Mason, 56 of Vivian, Louisiana passed away on October 4, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at First Baptist Church Vivian, officiated by Rev. Brett Puckitt, Bro. Chuck Dupree, and Rev. Michael Nations, burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 PM on Sunday, October 7th at First Baptist Church Vivian.

Les was born on January 26, 1962 in Homer, Louisiana to Roland and Sarah Mason. He lived in this area most of his life and was a member of the Vivian United Methodist Church. Les dedicated his life to our community as an educator and coach. He worked as a football coach, special education teacher and coach of the fishing team at North Caddo High School, his alma mater. He started his teaching and coaching career at Plain Dealing Academy, moved to Vivian Elementary Middle School in 1990, where he worked until 1998 when he moved to North Caddo High. He was beloved by all his students and players, and his passing will leave a void on the field, in the classroom and in the community. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all else Les loved his family; he was a devoted husband, daddy and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Fred and Jewel Mason, and Lester and Alice Strahan, his brother Roland Wayne Mason Jr., and his niece Tierney Mason. He is survived by his wife Carla Jordan Mason of Vivian, LA, his parents Roland and Sarah Mason of Vivian, LA, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Zela Jordan of DeRidder, LA, his three daughters, Leslie Alain Martin and husband T. J. of Gray, TX, Brittany Alison Mason of Vivian, LA, and Jordi Brianne Mason of Vivian, his sister Rolicea Shaw and husband Kenny of Ida, LA, his two brothers, Rodney Mason and wife Tammy of Vivian, LA, and Brent Mason and wife Connie of Vivian, LA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, “daddy’s best friend” Braylen Hindsman, and the ones that called him “Pops” Julian Martin, Miley Martin, and Addy Mae Martin, and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Mason, Brent Mason, Kenny Shaw, Ken Shaw, Mason Shaw, Daniel Mason, T. J. Martin, and Rafe Mason. Honorary pallbearers will be the North Caddo Football Team.

A memorial fund has been set up in his honor at Citizens Bank and Trust of Vivian.
