March 23, 1937 - February 17, 2018
John Preston “Johnny” Johnson passed away on February 17, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Atlanta Church of Christ in Atlanta, Texas, officiated by Tom Hooten. Burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery in Vivian, Louisiana.
Johnny was born in Vernon Parish Louisiana on March 23rd 1937 to Eula Blackmon Johnson and Preston Johnson. He was raised in Caldwell Parish by his mother and father Creston Curtis Dunn.
He is preceded in death by his father Preston Johnson in 1938, his mother in 1997, his father Creston Curtis Dunn in 2001, his 2 uncles Thurston Johnson and Belton Johnson, his sisters Nelda Johnson Frye, Myrtle Dunn Sanders, his brothers Curtis Dunn, Rupert Dunn and Merlon (Monk) Dunn.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Rita Reynolds Johnson, 3 sons, John (Jay) Thurston Johnson and his wife Patricia, Kenneth Creston Johnson and his wife Rachel and Jody Patrick Johnson, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. His sisters Geraldine Dunn Sherman, Marilyn Dunn Fore, Kathryn Dunn Willis, and Amanda Dunn Dannehl, and his brother James Billy Dunn. Along with many nieces and nephews including 1 very special niece that is always there for her family no matter where, how or when and she makes a great pound cake, Pat Johnson and her husband Patrick.
Pallbearers will be Jay Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Jody Johnson, Craig Bohannon, Stacy Houck, and Alton Elder. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon Johnson, David Dunn, and Johnny Pistole.
