Funeral services for Jerry W. Thornton will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Mike Norverg and Bro. Randy Costanza officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday May 31, 2018 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Jerry was born October 24, 1953 in Minden, Louisiana and entered into rest May 28, 2018 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a superintendent for Webster and DeSoto Parish Police Jury and a tractor auto mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents William David Thornton and Wilma Jean Urquhart and sister Brenda Sue Talbot.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Katie) Thornton of Minden; daughters, Amy Jo Thornton Hesser and husband Joe of Texas; Billie Jo (B.J.) Thornton Hickingbottom and husband Scott of Minden; Candice Jo Thornton Hesser of Pelican; sisters, Judy Martin, and Jane Boulet of Texas and Karen Walston of Minden; brothers, Ricky Thornton of Minden and Ronnie Talbot of Texas; grandchildren, Chrissy, Audrey, Tabby, Haleigh, Sam, Kasey, Dalton, Karrington, Chris, Noah, Kelsey, and Zack, and great-grandchildren, Judson, Olivia and Joselyn.

Pallbearers will be Sam Hesser, Dalton Taylor, Noah Hickingbottom, Ricky Lile, Donnie Averitt, and Ken Alford.

Honorary pallbearers will be O.A. Garland, John Lyles, Bill Frye, Ronnie Sale, Sherman Youngblood, Dr. Michael Chanler, and Allen Mosley.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Michael Chanler, Allen Mosley, ELC Medical Clinic, Minden Medical Center staff and Bossier Willis Knighton staff.
