Jimmy Elbert Davis, a retired boilermaker, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at his home in Denham Springs. He was 70 and a native of Bay St. Louis, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Clara B. Davis; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Lynn and Donnie Smith, and Pam and Bobby Morman, all of Walker, Kim and David Gauthier, Tinker and Billy Standiford and Heather Davis, all of Denham Springs, and Suzanne Carter of Bogalusa; seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Michael Davis, Steve and Joli Davis, Greg and Charlotte Varnado, and Scott and Cindy Varnado, all of Walker, Pat and Tammy Davis of Pearland, Texas, Donnie and Marie Davis of Holden, and Bobby and Angie Davis of Texarkana; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Buddy Miley of Plaquemine, and Martha and Pat Connelly of Denham Springs; 25 grandchildren, Brandon VanGorder, Kayla Grisham, Stormie and Joseph Hill, Kati, Erin, Steven, Jaala, Tonya, Renee, Daniel, Eric, Megan, Emily, Candace and Brittany Davis, April, Shane and Claire Varnado, Nicole Saldana, Jason Ellis, Jimmy, Ronald and Donald Harvey, and Tonka Delatte Jr.; and six great-grandchildren, Katlyn Dennis, Blakleigh Patrick, Brock and Braden Harvey, and Isabella and Victoria Saldana.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Galloway Davis; father, Rodum Elbert Davis; and brother, Butch Davis.

Pallbearers will be Pat Connelly, Mark Miley, Randy Burns, Allen Connelly, Bubba Andras and Steven Davis II. Honorary pallbearers are Ronald Harvey and Donald Harvey.

He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Renaissance Services of Gonzales is in charge of arrangements.
