Company K 38 Regiment Mississippi Cavalry

He enlisted on April 26, 1862, at Holmesville, Mississippi, at a part of Captain JC Williams Company of mounted infantry. His name appeared on a list of Prisoners of War captured September 19, 1862 at Iuka, Mississippi, of Corinth, Mississippi on October 304, 1862, and Hatchie, Mississippi on October 5-6, 1862. He was paroled on or about October 14, 1862. The muster roll for September-October 1862 showed he was left in the hospital at Iuka, Mississippi, as a prisoner. The muster roll for June 30, 1864, showed him to be absent without leave since March 16, 1863.
The 38 Regiment Mississippi Infantry was organized about May 12, 1862. Early in 1864 the designation was changed to 38 Regiment Mississippi Mounted Infantry, and in 1865 it was known as the 38 Regiment Mississippi Cavalry. March 3, 1865, the 38 Regiment Mississippi Cavalry, 14 Regiment Confederate Cavalry, and 3 Regiment Mississippi Cavalry were consolidated into one regiment known as the 38, 14 and 3 Regiments Consolidated Mississippi Cavalry.
