He enrolled May 14, 1862 at Monroe, Louisiana. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War after capture at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on July 4, 1863. His parole date was not located. His name later appeared on a List of Officers And Men Of 31 Regiment Louisiana Infantry who had reported in camp for exchange at Vienna, Louisiana before April 1, 1864, Headquarters Allen's Brigade, Shreveport, Louisiana, dated March 29, 1864. His name appeared on a Roll of Prisoners of War when his unit surrendered at New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 26, 1865. He was paroled at Monroe, Louisiana, on June 12, 1865.
The 31 Regiment Louisiana Infantry was consolidated with the 3, 17, 21, 22, 26, 27 and 28 Regiments Louisiana Infantry February 1864, to form one regiment designated as the 22 Regiment (Consolidated) Louisiana Infantry.
