Sam was born December 24, 1924 in Shreveport, LA to Sam Peters, Sr. and Sadie Fulco Peters and died September 16, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. He went to school at St. Mary's Catholic School, then on to Bossier High School, where he played in the band and enjoyed that very much. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his service he joined his family's business, Peters Grocery, which he owned and operated until his death.

On December 14, 1952, he married the love of his life, Josephine Capuano and would have celebrated 62 years together this December. Sam was a faithful member of the Catholic Religion and attended Christ the King Catholic Church. He was loyal to the Ford Company and traded vehicles every two to three years. This was because after WWII, Ford was the first to call him saying they had a car for him, which made him a lifetime customer. He also enjoyed Big Band music, especially the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the customers always heard this type of music playing in Peters Grocery.

He is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Melissa Rose Maggio.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Capuano Peters; son, Tommy Peters and wife, Deborah; daughter, Sharon Peters Maggio and husband, Vince; sisters, Rose Peters Capuano and Connie Peters; grandchildren, Brandon Peters, Kerry Rogers, Shanon Cole, Sara Jo Maggio Williams and husband, Dusty; great grandchildren, Grayson, Joleigh and Gemma Rose Williams; special nephew, Mickey Capuano and wife, Delores; nieces, Patricia Mitchell, Sonia Peters Cassidy and husband, Dale and Cheryl Capuano Sirven and husband, George and a host of other family and friends.

Honoring Sam as pallbearers will be Brandon Peters, Vincent Capuano, Dusty Williams, Shanon Cole, Tim Mitchell and Nicholas Peters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Melissa Rose Foundation, 401 Thompson St., Bossier City, LA 71111,
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
, 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or to Christ the King Catholic Church, 425 McCormick St., Bossier City, LA 71111.
