Wife of John Abney Purvis
Elsie Andrews Purvis, 86, a resident of Bogalusa, died Wednesday, July 5. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an active life member of American Legion Auxiliary No. 48.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John A. Purvis of Bogalusa; a son, Michael Collin Purvis and a daughter, Cathy Purvis Freeman, both of Bogalusa; and a sister, Pat Price of Bogalusa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, G.C. and Bertha Andrews; and two sisters, Mrs. W.C. "Don" Barnwell and Mrs. J.Y. "Billie" Gilmore of Morgan City.
A graveside service will be held in Ponemah Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 14.
