According to the Military Secretary Office of The War Department, Washington, dated May 25, 1905, Noah Coleman, age 26, enrolled February 20, 1864 in Natchez, Mississippi. He was mustered into service on February 24, 1864, in New Orleans, Louisiana. On August 25, 1864, he was transferred from 2 Regiment Louisiana Cavalry to 1 Regiment Louisiana Cavalry. He was mustered out of service on December 18, 1865. On March 22 1892, his name appears on record listing him as an invalid. The record further indicated he was born in Smith County, Mississippi, was 5'10" tall, fair complexion with blue eyes and light hair. His occupation was as a farmer prior to enlistment.
Application for Headstone, dated June 3, 1935, indicated he served in both 1 Regiment Louisiana Cavalry and 2 Regiment Louisiana Cavalry.
