March 11, 1844 - February 8, 1933
He enlisted in Jasper County, Mississippi on March 13, 1862. He was captured on May 18, 1863, at Big Black River, near Vicksburg, Mississippi and sent to a Prisoner of War camp in Memphis, Tennessee on June 12, 1863. He was received as a Prisoner of War at the Military Prison in Alton, Illinois on June 20, 1863. On August 16, 1863, he was hospitalized at the USA Post & Prison Hospital in Alton, Illinois for disease (Varioloid - a mild form of smallpox). He was returned to the prisoners quarters on August 19, 1863. On April 4, 1864, he was transferred to Fort Delaware and arrived there on April 8, 1864. On June 11, 1865, he took an Oath of Allegiance at Fort Delaware and was released on the same day.
