Sylvia Ann Fortenberry, 58, of East Brainerd, TN went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 29, 2010.

A native of Bogalusa, LA, Mrs. Fortenberry had lived in Chattanooga, TN since 1998.

She was an active member of Grace Baptist Church where she served at Grace Children's Center and the School Library. She also ministered with Grace Handbell Choir, led a Ladies Bible Study and served with her husband in a Divorce Recovery Class.

Sylvia served faithfully as a U.S. Army chaplain's wife alongside her husband for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Darryl Fortenberry; son, Jeff (Bethany) Bickham, Chattanooga, TN; two stepchildren, Karen (David) Myrick and Ryan (Rebecca) Fortenberry, all of Chattanooga, TN; mother, Sue Sumrall Bush; brother, Denny Sumrall, both of Bogalusa, LA; sister, Rosie Culbertson, Negreet, LA; five grandchildren, Evan, Sean, Josh, Lewis and Tulolah; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Euler officiating.

Burial will be at Ponemah Cemetery, Bogalusa, LA, on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Grace Baptist Church Childrens' Center, 7815 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The family will receive friends from 8 to 10 a.m. today at Grace Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN.
