Margaret Mitchell was the first child born to James O. and Zella L. Seal Mitchell on August 13, 1918 in Bogalusa, LA. She received her nurses training at Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Medical Center. It was while she was in nurses training that she met and married the love of her life, Raiford Flowers. They were happily married for over 40 years. After moving to Mississippi, she took some special classes at Ole Miss. She worked as an RN for a number of years at Columbia Clinic Hospital. She then served as an RN for over 30 years at the Jackson VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. While at the VA, she worked on a special research on Arthritis with one of the Doctors there. After retiring from the VA, she worked part time at St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Margaret and her husband, Raiford Flowers moved to Florence, MS in the early part of 1975 and immediately became active members of Florence First Baptist Church. After Raiford's death, Margaret remained faithful to her Church. She loved her Church Family dearly. Two weeks before she became ill, she was out visiting her Church Shutins and was always available when she knew of a need. She was also a long time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Eastern Star Capitol Chapter #348, now merged with Radiant Chapter.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Leo Mitchell of Bogalusa, LA; her husbands, Raiford Flowers and her second husband, Wesley Wallace. She is survived by her brothers, Leslie S. Mitchell and his wife, Ann of Klamath Falls, Oregon, James O. Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Naomi of Spring, TX; her sister-in-law, Lois Mitchell of Bogalusa, LA; and a number of nieces and nephews, which she loved as her own.
