Funeral services were conducted today at the Church of God on Warren Street for Army Recruit Jewell D Brady, 35-year-old Bogalusan, who died of fire wounds Sunday at Camp Chaffee, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Brady was seriously burned about the body while fighting a fire in the administration building of the army camp.
The body of the soldier arrived here Wednesday morning aboard the Rebel and was taken to the Church of God, where it was lain in state. The train was met by Mayor Curt Siegelin, who placed a wreath on the casket in behalf of the city, and a delegation from the American Legion. The Legion was in charge of military rites at the Veterans Plot in Ponemah Cemetery this morning when Recruit Brady was buried. Reverend W R Fowler officiated at the service. He is survived by his mother, Mrs Emma Brady, 1104 Warren Street; brothers, Lawrence and Dewey Brady of Bogalusa, and Audie Brady of Jackson, Missississippi; and sister Mrs.Dwight Beard a resident of the Terrace.
