He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the US Army-Air Corp. Survived by Wife Essie McKenzie Adams of Bogalusa, , Louisiana; Daughter, Shirley Hoover of Denham Springs, Louisiana; Sons, Terry J Adams, Sr of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Charles Adams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Richard Adams of Bogalusa, Louisiana ;Step-Daughters Mary Warner of Bush, Louisiana, Ramona Clark of Mandeville, Louisiana and Patricia Cordell of Covington, Louisiana;Step-Sons, Richard Lott of Montgomery, Texas and Larue Lott of Springfield, Louisiana;Sisters, Letha (Marvin) Ethridge of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Berdie Mae Bennett of Watson, Louisiana, Bertha Mae King of Covington,, Louisiana;Grandchildren, Michael Dillon, Donald Dillon, Karen Mattingly, Suzanne Gerome, Misty Adams, Eric Adams and Amanda Adams, Terry Joseph Adams, II, Timothy Scott Adams, Kimberly Ann Brouillette and Danielle Vincent and 14 Great-Grand- children; Preceded in Death by First Wife Lucille Ann O'Brien Adams; Daughter Elvie Dillon, Son James Adams, Jr, Parents Joe and Elvie Adams, Sisters, Pearlie Beeson and Stella Thomas, Brothers Jason Adams, and Rubin "Doc" Adams.
