He enlisted March 31, 1863, in Lisbon, Louisiana. He was captured August 5, 1864, near Atlanta, Georgia. His name appeared on the Roll of Prisoners of War at Nashville, Tennessee as captured by forces under Major General Sherman. He was forwarded to Captain S E Jones, A D C, District of Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky, as a prisoner of war on August 11, 1864. On August 13, 1864, his name appeared on the Register of Prisoners of War at Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky, and then at Camp Chase, Ohio on August 14, 1864. On February 12, 1865, he was transferred from Camp Chase to Point Lookout, Maryland. On February 21, 1865, his name appeared on the Muster Roll Of A Detachment Of Paroled And Exchanged Prisoners at Camp Lee, near Richmond, Virginia.
