Enlisted June 23, 1861 at Camp Moore, Louisiana. Captured at Fredericksburg, Virginia May 4, 1863. His name appears on a list of casualties in Hays' Brigade on May 10, 1863, in the battles near Fredericksburg, Virginia (April 29 - May 4, 1863). He was paroled at Old Capital Prison, Washington DC on May 19, 1863. Beginning on August 11, 1863, he's listed as present for duty until November 3, 1864, when he's listed as absent wounded since October 19, 1864. On March 24, 1865, he's in the trenches near Petersburg, Virginia. He's listed as participating in the engagements at Sharpsburg, Maryland (September 17, 1862), Rappahannock Bridge (November 7, 1863), Wilderness (May 5, 1864), Spottsylvania (May 12, 1864), Mechanicsville Pike (June 2, 1864), Monocaey (July 9, 1864), Winchester (September 19, 1864), Fisher's Hill (September 23, 1864), and wounded at Belle Grove (October 19, 1864).
