Final rites for G. Ellis Dowdey, 49, former Monroe resident, were held at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Gregory officiating. Interment followed in the Riverview cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn's. Mr Dowdey died in Atlanta, Ga., Friday following a heart attack. He is survived by two sons, James E. and Charles R Dowdey, both of Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs. Fritz King, Monroe, Mrs. Doris Fifken, Winnipeg, Canada, Mrs. Eleanor Eubanks, Bastrop, and Mrs. Alma Landrum, Atlanta; and one brother, Charles A. Dowdey, Rayville. Pallbearers were Edward Eubanks, Fred Landrum, Billy Landrum, Gladden Walters, Bobby Jennings and Kenny Wailes.
