Merle Polk
(Died April 9, 1999)
SHERIDAN - Merle Polk, 63, died last Friday at Slidell Memorial Hospital.
Polk was the owner and manager of Polk's Grocery in Stateline.
Polk is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Gaddy of Franklinton; two sons and daughters-in-law,Bobby and Kathy Polk of Franklinton and Chris and Torri Polk of Franklinton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Violet Burr of Pearl River, Mitzi and Phil Hoover of Slidell, Dawn and Carvin Johnston of Franklinton; three sisters, Eloise Knight of Bogalusa, Vera Hughes of Bogalusa and Laverne Hernandez of New Orleans; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Polk was preceded in death by his parents, R C and Myrtle Polk; two brothers, Robert "Bo"Polk and Earl Polk and one grandchild, Jennie Marie Polk.
Visitation was April 10 from 5 p m to 10 p m and after 8 a m Sunday.
Funeral service was conducted from the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home April 11 at 4p m with Elder Glynn Erwin, Elder Brent King and Dr Wayne Cook officiating.
Pall bearers were Christopher Knight, Lonnie Williams, Morris Blanco, Ian Burke, Jerod Seals and Dusty McKenzie.
Honorary pall bearers were, Jake Magee, Rastus "Rat" Kennedy, Todd Ledet, Mark Corkern andEric Pierce.
Interment was in Mt Sinai Church Cemetery in Sheridan.
