Reuben Hamp Miley, age 55, was found dead in bed Tuesday morning at the home of
his niece, Mrs. Robert Temples, 1208 Sunset Drive [Bogalusa]. His wife preceeded
[sic] him in death 11 years ago. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Emma Miley;
five daughters, Mrs. John Carpenter, Mrs. Henry Creel, both of Franklinton; Miss
Mildred Miley, who is attending school in Natchitoches, La., Mrs. Viola Wehmyer,
Bogalusa; and Mrs. Albert Johnston, who is making her home in Germany with her
husband, a member of the U.S. Occupational forces. The deceased leaves a
brother, Moon [sic, Boone] Miley of Varnado; five half-brothers, of Mileytown,
near Varnado, Y. M., Joe, Luther, Morgan and Morris Miley; two sisters Mrs.
Jewell Beard of New Orleans; Mrs. Myrtle Parnell, Ponchatoula; three
half-sisters, Mrs. George Nobles, Mrs. Lena Fussell both of Varnado and Mrs.
Jane Temples, Franklinton. Other survivors include six grand-children and Mrs.
Estelle Toney, sister-in-law, in addition to a very large family connection
throughout the parish. The Brown Funeral Home is in charge of the final
arrangements. The deceased was buried Wednesday afternoon from the Mt. Sinai
Church at 3 p.m. and interment followed in the McNeese Cemetery.
