FRANKLINTON - Maria Carpenter Caughlin,35, died at 5 a.m. Friday, July 07, at her residence in Mt. Hermon. A member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, she graduated from Mt. Hermon High School in 1988 and from Louisiana Technical College in December 2002.
She worked as a nurse at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton for two years before becoming ill.
She is survived by her husband, Thyron Lee Caughlin of Mt Hermon; two children, Brittney Maria Caughlin and Brady Lee Caughlin, both of Mt Hermon; her father, Hamp Shelton Carpenter of Mt. Hermon; a sister, Judy (Ricky) Cosse of LaCombe; a brother, Russell Carpenter of Mt. Hermon; three special sisters-in-law, Renee Carpenter of Franklinton, Eugenia Dykes and Deneen Caughlin, both of Golden Meadow; two godchildren, Jacob Bradford of Franklinton and Shelby Bordelone of Abita Springs;10 nieces, four nephews, three great-nephews and two great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Faye Creel Carpenter; her grandparents, Gene and Lener Jenkins Creel and Johnny and Alma Miley Carpenter.
Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 and continued after 9 a.m. today until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Eld. J.W. Graves and Eld. Gary Sumrall will officiate, with burial to follow in the McNeese Cemetery.
