BOGALUSA— Eurie McGehee Nichols, a descendent of several Washington Parish Pioneer families, died yesterday, at age 98, in the Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Nichols was a 1926 graduate of William Carey College. She later taught at Bogalusa High School and worked for the WPA and the Louisiana State Welfare Department as a case supervisor for over 35 years. She served for many years on the board of directors for the Bogalusa Guidance Center and as the music librarian and history committee chairman of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Robert (Jocie) Landry, 11 nieces and nephews, William and Marie McGehee, Robert and Doris McGehee, Jerry McGehee, Jimmy Ray and Rossie McGehee, J. David McGehee, Michael and Cynthia McGehee and Bryan McGehee, all of Bogalusa; and Martha E. Johnston of Picayune, MS. Nichols family nephews and nieces include Rob Roy Nichols Jr., John E. and Martha Nichols, and Kathleen Mizell, all of Bogalusa, Charles Jones Jr. of Fulton, KY, Nancy Jones Howse of Jackson, TN, Earl Nichols Jr. of Memphis, TN, Alice Lawson Teaney of Burbank, CA, Hurbert B. McMeans of Cocoa, FL, Robert W. McMean of Bealeton, VA, Ella Dee Bowman of Spring Grove, PA, and Ann Nichols of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Yancy R. Nichols; parents, the Rev. and Mrs. William Formento McGehee; five brothers, William Wesley McGehee, J.D. McGehee, Ezekial McGehee, Lincoln McGehee and Judson P. McGehee; and one sister, Eula M. McGehee.

Visitation was today at First Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 10 a.m. The Revs. Bob Adams and Jon Kittrel officiated and internment followed in the McGehee Cemetery.
