J. D. McKENZIE, AGE 90

And a resident of the Hilltop Community died at 7:55 pm Sunday January 25, 2015 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was longtime member of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church where he previously taught Sunday School. J.D. retired after many years as a bus driver for Pine School. He was also a dairy farmer and later became a beef cattleman. J.D. was a farmer all his life as he once raised cotton before dairying but he continued to work in his big garden as long as he was able. He was a devoted and caring husband to the love of his life, his wife of 63 years Gladys Slocum McKenzie, who preceded him in death and he always enjoyed and cherished the time spent together with his family.

Survived by:

2 Sons and Daughters in law: Geary and Ann McKenzie, Kendall and Vivian McKenzie all of Pine

6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Kimberly McKenzie and Buddy Redlinger, Steven and Jenny McKenzie, Jason and Patsy McKenzie, Leigh Ann and Brad Watson, Jeremy and Taylor McKenzie, Ashley and Josh McElveen.

10 Great-grandchildren: Jacob Seal, Caleb McKenzie, Jordan McKenzie, Madison Peco, Tyler McKenzie, Chloe McKenzie, Anna Grace Watson, Makenzie Watson, Olivia McElveen, Kenzie McElveen

2 Sisters: Myrtle Singley of Angie, Chinesey Sumrall of Pine

3 Sisters in law: Jimmie Lou McKenzie, Leona Crain both of Pine, Edna Nobles of Bogalusa

And numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son and daughter in law James D. McKenzie and Janette McKenzie, granddaughter Buffy McKenzie, great-granddaughter Fontanna Seal, his parents Andrew Jackson McKenzie and Rosetta Williams McKenzie and brother K.C. McKenzie.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday January 26th from 5 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday at Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Eld. Mark Hobgood, Eld. Clyde Cooper, Eld. Duane Ball and Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers: James Slocum, Ronald McKenzie, Billy Gerald, Arthur Nobles, Wendell Crain, Bennie Buff, Herman Slocum.
