Melvin Branch, age 87
And a resident of the Hilltop Community died early Saturday January 31, 2009 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was a lifelong member of Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Branch was retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. where he worked for 38 years.

Survived by: Wife of 60 years Helen Melton Branch of Hilltop Community

Daughter and Son in law: Lajune and Ronnie Williams of Sandy Hook, MS

Son and Daughter in law: Randy and Jackie Branch of Hilltop Community

3 Grandchildren and spouses: Melissa and Kevin Creel, Cherish and Justin Crockett, Chase Branch and fiancé Jessica Smith

5 Great-grandchildren: C.K. Creel, Caleb Creel, Kylee Creel Avery Crockett, Alex Crockett.

2 Sisters in law: Virgie Branch of Stateline Community Lizina Branch of Hilltop Community

Numerous other nieces, nephews and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Eddie Moore Branch, step mother Pearl Knight Branch, sisters Aline Knight, Eulane Thomas, Zelma Shelly, and Lillian Williams; brothers Delos Branch and Clifton Branch

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday February 1st from 6 pm until 9 pm. Visitation Monday will be at Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church after 9 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am with Eld. Mark Hobgood, Eld. Richard Magee, and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Church Cemetery.
