Monroe - Funeral Services for Dr John Gustav Cale, 96, of Monroe, LA, will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road with Rev. Bruce Rux officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe.

Dr Cale was born January 24, 1922 and passed away on November 23, 2018. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Dr. Cale was a veteran, who served his country in the 84th Division of the United States Army during WWII and the Battle of the Bulge. He received his Bachelor of Music from LSU, Master of Music from the University of Michigan, and PhD of Music from LSU. Dr. Cale was a staff writer at the News Star prior to becoming a professor of music at the former NLU, now ULM. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Clara Goodson Cale; brother, Roland Evander Cale; and his wife of 38 years, Harriett Cale.

Survivors include his five children, Fredrick Eugene Cale, John Houston Cale, Andrew Richardson Cale, Cordelia Anne Cale, and Roland David Cale; 12 grandchildren; and six great-niece, Elaine Cale; nephew, Scott Cale, and cousin, Sara Stokes.

Pallbearers will be Fredrick Cale, John H. Cale, Andrew Cale, Roland Cale, Taylor Cale, and Christian Cale.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.
