WOOD, LOUIS VERNON "VERN"

A retired cattleman and owner-operator of L.V. Wood Meat Plant in Franklinton, he died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at his residence in Franklinton. He was 83 and a native of Franklinton. Visiting at Crain Funeral Home chapel, Franklinton, after 9 a.m. Monday until funeral services at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. George Haile. Interment in Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton. Survived by wife, Hazel Stegall Wood, Franklinton; a daughter, Mrs. George (Gay W.) Haile, Baton Rouge; a nephewwho was like a son, Buddy Wood, Franklinton; three stepchildren, Andy Seal Smith, Kentwood, Penny Seal Hall, Mandeville, and Jack Seal, Galveston, Texas; three grandchildren, Mrs. John (Lydia Wales) Jumonville, Dallas, and Mrs. Gregory (Donna Wales) Martin and Scott Wales, all of Atlanta, Ga.; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Luther and Effie Jenkins Wood; three brothers, Willard, Don and Stewart Wood; and a sister, Genevieve W. Magee. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklinton

WOOD, HAZEL STEGALL

Retired from East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court's Office, and resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 80 and a former longtime resident of Franklinton. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at First Baptist Church, Franklinton, 1 p.m. Friday until religious services at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. George A. Haile. Interment in Ellis Cemetery . Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gay W. and the Rev. George A. Haile, Baton Rouge; three grandchildren and spouses, Lydia W. and John Jumonville, Donna W. and Greg Martin and Scott L. Wales; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Louis Vernon Wood.
