Walter Ray Sylvest, age 75, a lifelong resident of the Franklinton area, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at his home in Fleetwood subdivision, Franklinton, Louisiana. Mr Sylvest is survived by his wife of fifty years, Bronis Magee Sylvest; daughter Bambi Sylvest of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sons Walter Sylvest and wife, Telisa Simmons Sylvest of Franklinton and Stephen Sylvest and wife Debra Averette Sylvest of Mandeville, Louisiana; grand-children Caleb Sylvest, Rebekah Sylvest and Brady Edwards; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elbert Sylvest of Mandeville, Louisiana; Harold and Minnie Jane Sylvest of Milford, Ohio, and Richard and Vermelle Sylvest of Hammond, Louisiana; sister and brother-in-law Ray and Ruth Sylvest Mitchell of Slidell, Louisiana. Preceded in death by father and mother, Steve and Naomi Tisdale Sylvest. Mr Sylvest served as deacon at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Franklinton, Louisiana, served overseas in US Air Force during Korean War and was one of the founders of American Ukranian Fellowship. He was a retired builder, realtor and developer of Lynnwood subdivision, Fleetwood subdivision, and Riverside Shopping Center and was one of the founders of the Franklinton Area Economic Development Foundation, Inc.
