Sweeney, Horace Parker, age 70. A former Franklinton resident and a resident of Denham Springs died May 31st at Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Interment was in Ellis Cemetery. Survivors are his widow, Bessie Carpenter Sweeney, two daughters, five grandchildren, four sisters, a half brother and a half sister.

SWEENEY, BESSIE CARPENTER

A retired nurse, she died at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 1996, at her residence in Denham Springs. She was 91 and a native of Franklinton. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Visiting at First United Methodist Church, Denham Springs, 9 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Larry Miller. Graveside services at Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Sweeney and Jack Cox, Natchez, Miss., and Pamela Sweeney and Millard Williams, Denham Springs; granddaughters, Sandy D. Cox, Natchez, Mrs. Rick Brinneman (Karen Cox), Houston, Mrs. Clayton McCluer (Lesa Cox), Madison, Miss., and Ann L. Williams, Denham Springs; and a grandson, Kirk L. Williams, Denham Springs. Preceded in death by husband, Horace P. Sweeney; and parents, Williams J. and Effie Myles Carpenter, Franklinton. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Denham Springs.
