Died at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 90 years old and retired from Polk Chevrolet in 1982 after 24 years as comptroller. A resident of Baton Rouge since 1954, he was a native of Jayess, Miss., and a former resident of Bogalusa and New Orleans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific Theater as a captain in the 38th Armored Division. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2003. Visiting at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, conducted by Rev. Bullard Jones. Interment in Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003. Survived by four sons, M. Stephen Roberts of Houston, Frank F. Roberts Jr. and wife Juliana Musselwhite Roberts of Baton Rouge, William Kent Roberts and wife Martha Bankston Roberts of Alexandria, and Michael L. Roberts and wife Jacqueline Messina Roberts of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Caroline Roberts Galiano, F. Ford Roberts III, Shannon Roberts Hunt and Kaysie Roberts; and great-grandsons, Mason R. Galiano, J. Nichlas Hunt and Nathan Hunt. Preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Magee Roberts; and an infant son, Randall Magee Roberts. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, a former member of Briarwood and Shenandoah Country clubs and a member of Southside Civic Association and A.A.R.P. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "World Missions Program" of the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1309, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
