A. U. Peterson, a well-known nurseryman from Folsom, died quietly in his sleep Friday of last week at the age of 66. A native of New Orleans, he had been a resident o f St. Tammany parish for 16 years.
The Rev. Robert C. Carter officiated at funeral services held Sunday afternoon from the Schoen Funeral Home, with interment following in the Ellis cemetery at Franklinton. Masonic rites were held at the graveside.
Mr. Peterson was president of the St. Tammany Parish Nurserymen's Association, a member of the state Nurserymen's Association, a past master of the Covington Lodge No. 186, Free and Accepted Masons, master of the Folsom Masonic organization, and a member of the New Orleans Commissary (Masonic).
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lela Magee Peterson; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Armitage of Folsom, Mrs. William J. Furlong and Mrs. J. Pollard Sealy, both of Shreveport, and Mrs. Lawrence Griffin of Bunkie; one son, Jinx Peterson of Vicksburg, Peterson of Houston and two brothers, Isadore Peterson of Houston and Oscar Peterson of Sunny Hill, and 14 grandchildren.
