GREGORY HOLYNE NEWMAN, AGE 69, Was born in Bogalusa on February 24, 1949 and died at his residence in Kentwood on Monday, December 31, 2018.

He attended Franklinton High School and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Southeastern Louisiana University. His business resume is long, some of which were: Owner/Operator of Casino Beach Resorts in Gulfport, MS,; Newman Rental Corporations; Board of Directors of United Investments Corporation for over 35 years; Newman Scholarship Fund for deserving students at SLU and Co-owner of Urban Ore, Inc. His favorite businesses were his bands that spanned 45 years.

3 Sons: Gregory Holyne “Hal” Newman, II of Ponchatoula, LA
Joseph Morgan Newman of Hammond, LA, Samuel Salloum Newman of New Orleans, LA
Sister: Sandra Elias of Long Beach, MS
Aunts: Gloria Salloum Newman of New Orleans, LA
Barbara Thomas Salloum, Sandra Salloum both of Gulfport, MS
Uncle: Phillip Hage of Gulfport, MS, Brother and sisters in laws: Walter and Mary Livaudais of Slidell, LA, Frances and Steve Lacour of Mandeville, LA, Robert and Michelle Morgan of Madisonville, LA, Several nieces and nephews, Also many Salloum cousins, who were so very precious to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Holyne and Gladys Salloum Newman, his sister Cindy Newman Muldrey, his grandparents Joseph and Alice Kortez, George and Fadwa Zahra Salloum.

Visitation will be from 10 am until 11:50 am, with a eulogy at 11:50 and a mass at 12 noon Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1220 14th Avenue, Franklinton, LA 70438. Burial will follow at Ellis Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the hall at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Bailey, Bert Bertucci, Hudson Brock, Chuck Carver, Kent Chatellier, Thomas Warren Ford, Kent Heap, Edward J. LeBlanc, Michael Pace, John Phelps, Lamar Richardson, Edmond Salloum, Michael Varnado.
