MOORE JR., GEORGE DUKE
Retired co-owner of Moore & Jenkins Insurance Agency in Franklinton with a 40-year career in the business and a resident of Franklinton, he died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Spruce Pine Community Hospital in Spruce Pine, N.C., while vacationing. He was 61. Visiting at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Religious service at Centenary United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Lyndle Bullard and the Rev. Percy Mac Frazier. Burial in Ellis Cemetery . Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelli M. and David Darbonne of Lake Charles and JoJan Moore of Mandeville; four grandsons, Christopher, Andrew, Evan and Alexander Darbonne; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan M. and Richard Jenkins of Franklinton; a sister-in-law, Nancy Neal of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a brother-in-law, John Upchurch of Louisville, Miss.; a special cousin, Judy Moore Rabuffo of Franklinton; a nephew, Scott Jenkins; and six nieces, Leanne J. Norris, Faith Bahm, Patri Gast, Memory Mobley, Sue Ellen Taylor and Carolyn DeKilder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Upchurch Moore; and parents, George D. and Marah Burris Moore. He was a graduate of LSU where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He was past president of the Franklinton Rotary Club, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and an officer and board member of the Franklinton Country Club. Duke was an active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the board of trustees for several years. Memorial donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

A resident of Franklinton, she died at 9:26 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her home. She was 58, born Feb. 24, 1941, in Louisville, Miss. Visiting at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Religious services at Centenary United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. Sunday, conducted by Dr. Spiller Milton, the Rev. Percy M. Frazier and the Rev. Charles M. Floyd. Interment in Ellis Cemetery . Survived by her husband, G. Duke Moore; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kelli Elizabeth and David P. Darbonne, Lake Charles, and Nancy JoJan Moore, Franklinton; two grandchildren, Christopher Paul and Andrew Scott Darbonne; a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Nancy) Neal, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Oakley Upchurch, Louisville; a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jenkins, and the Rev. Percy Mac Frazier, all of Franklinton; six nieces, Faith F. Bahm, Patri F. Gast, Memory Mobley, Suellen Taylor, Carolyn DeKilder and Leanne Jenkins; and a nephew, Scott Jenkins. Preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Upchurch; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Upchurch and Frances U. Frazier. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church or Hospice of St. Tammany.
