Yancie Hubert Moseley, Sr.; age 85
And a resident of Franklinton, LA since 1963 passed away Friday November 7, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center. He was born in Buckatunna, Mississippi on December 10, 1922. He was a veteran of World War II and received a purple heart and various other award medals. As a young man he joined the Masons and rose to a 32nd degree Mason and then became a Shriner. Mr. Moseley was the founder of Moseley's Jewelers beginning in Hattiesburg, MS in 1945. He later opened a store in Kentwood, LA and in 1963 he opened the existing store in Franklinton. He was among the group instrumental in founding the Franklinton Country Club and served as president for several years. Mr. Moseley and his wife retired from their jewelry business in 1979 and traveled extensively for many years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and also a champion golfer and bowler who enjoyed fishing and watching all sports. He will be sadly missed by his beloved companion Sparky, his white poodle. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Ruby Weeks Moseley and one son and daughter-in-law Y.H. "Buck" Moseley, Jr. and Linda Key Moseley all of Franklinton. Grandchildren include a granddaughter Angel Moseley Simmons and Kim F. Morris, a grandson Yancie H. Moseley, III and wife Tracy and a granddaughter Becky Moseley Thomas and husband Dean, all of Franklinton. Great-grandchildren include Adam and Tucker Simmons, Allison, Linden and Matthew Moseley, Austin Varnado and wife Tina, Tyler and Whitney Varnado. Step grandchildren include Crystal Thomas Barber and husband William, Patches Thomas, Carter and Collin Cheramie. Great-great-grandchildren include Devyn Thomas, Keyton Varnado, and Madison Barber.

He was preceded in death by parents F.E. and Vennie Covington Moseley, brother James Moseley and a sister Audrey Moseley Kemp. Also a great-grandchild Jamie Moseley Varnado.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday November 10th from 11 am until 2 pm. Masonic rites will be given at 2 pm with a funeral service immediately following with Dr. Gene Richards officiating.

Burial with military honors will take place in Ellis Cemetery. Pallbearers: Yancie H. Moseley, III, Austin Varnado, Tyler Varnado, Adam Simmons, Matthew Moseley, and Tucker Simmons Honorary Pallbearers: John R. Passman, Dean Thomas, J.J. Bahm, Fred Hatten, Clayton James, Mark James, James Finch, Randy Magee, Rick Terry, Alan Stafford, John B. Green and Charles Watts.
