Wayne Painter, beloved Dad, Grandfather, youth coach, and Veteran of the US Navy, was born on December 4, 1944 in Bogalusa, Louisiana and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Barataria, Louisiana on December 21, 2016.

He is survived by his first wife, Launa Lacour of Moreauville, Louisiana; their son Edward Painter and wife Angelle and their girls Eliza and Tayla, all of Barataria, Louisiana; and their daughter Dana Mintz, her fiancé Michael, and their boys Tallen, Gage, and Skylar, all of Covington, Louisiana.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Ethel Sullivan Painter, his three sisters, Linda, Brenda, and Pamela (Hoelzel), and his second wife, Patricia.

He faithfully served his country as a Signalman on the carrier Franklin D Roosevelt from 1966 to 1970, earning an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy.

Wayne was also a dedicated youth coach for many sports, primarily baseball, over the course of 27 years. Two generations of boys learned the fundamentals of baseball from Wayne at Lakeview Playground in New Orleans, Louisiana and Lakeshore Playground in Metairie, Louisiana between 1977 and 2004.
Wayne's funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Ben's Ford Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Doors will open at 9:00am, and the service will begin at 12:00 noon. A reception will immediately follow the service. A private interment will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklinton, Louisiana.

The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to Heart of Hospice for making Wayne's final days painless and comfortable.
