MAGEE, WINONA SCHEXNAYDER
Born Sept. 11, 1911, she died Friday, July 2, 2004, at 7:18 p.m. at The Guest House in Baton Rouge. She was a resident of Franklinton for more than 60 years and had resided at The Guest House for the past six years.
Winona was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wellington "R.W." Magee, who was superintendent of schools in Washington Parish from 1941 to February 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Olide Paul and Martha Vial Schexnayder; five brothers, Earl Joseph "Earl," Alton Louis "Tut," Edwin Anthony "Johnny," Adolph Elyse "Duffy" and Olide Paul Jr., who died at birth; and a sister, Doris Martha Breitling.
Winona is survived by her sister, Mrs. Alfred L. (Aimee) Simm of Bogalusa. She is also survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Dr. Steven S. Nicholson; a grandson, Dr. Steven M. Nicholson and wife Dawn and their three children, Noah Michael, Jonah Steven and Grace Mckenna of Sulphur; a granddaughter, Carol, her husband, Dr. R.A. Vanbergen, and their four sons, Matthew, Philip Magee, Eric Paul and David of Birmingham, Ala. Winona was an active member of the Franklinton community. Her family was one of five charter member families of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was instrumental in the establishment of this church. She was a charter member of the Home and Garden Club and a member of the Waverly Club.
Visitation at Holy Family Catholic Church, Franklinton, from 10 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004. Interment in Ellis Cemetery .
