James Newton Magruder Sr., 63, of Franklinton, died Oct. 30 at his residence. Mr. Magruder was a native of Amite.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katheryn Verger Magruder, formerly of Folsom; three daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Pam) Garrett and Mrs. Kenny (Jackie) Weber, both of Baton Rouge; and Joyce Morgan of Franklinton; two sons, James N. Magruder Jr., Franklinton, and Virgil Ray Magruder of Covington.

Mr. Magruder is also survived by a brother, Larry Magruder of Buras; an aunt, Edith Newton of Arlington, Va.; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 1 with interment at Ellis Cemetery in Franklinton.

Visiting at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial in Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton. Survived by wife, Mrs. Kathryn Magruder, Franklinton; three daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Pam) Garrett and Mrs. Kenny (Jackie) Weber, both of Baton Rouge, and Joyce Morgan, Franklinton; two sons, James N. Magruder Jr., Franklinton, and Virgil Ray Magruder, Covington; a brother, Larry Magruder, Buras; an aunt, Edith Newton, Arlington, Va.; and six grandchildren.
