He was a resident of Franklinton, La and he passed away at 3:30 a.m. at Northoaks Extended Care in Hammond. He was 87. He served 18 years as district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District in Washington and St. Tammany parishes. He was a graduate of LSU and LSU Law School. During World War II, he served as an FBI agent. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton. He was a 50-year member of Franklinton Masonic Lodge No. 101 and was a charter member of Long Range Skeet Club of Franklinton. The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice. His parents were William Averice and Lela Eliza Simmons Erwin. His wife was Mary O'Brien Babington.
