Wife of Cecil C Ellzey
Margie Nell Brumfield Ellzey, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be loved and remembered always, died peacefully on July 2, 2011 at East Jefferson Hospital at the age of 86. Margie lived most of her 86 years in her hometown of Franklinton, graduating from Franklinton High School in 1942 as Valedictorian. As a young woman, she worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in the areas of Farmers Home Administration and Soil Conservation. During World War II, she was a Red Cross volunteer. She was a charter and long time member of the Franklinton Women's Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklinton. She also belonged to the Wesleyan Service Guild, the Bogalusa Medical Center Auxiliary, and Tri Psi (the Delta Delta Delta Mothers' club). Mrs. Ellzey was married to the late Col. Cecil C. Ellzey, Ret. US Army, former CEO of the Bogalusa Community Medical Center, and former Commander in the Louisiana National Guard Battalions in Lafayette, Bogalusa, and Franklinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Cecily Bateman, her son-in-law, Rodney Bateman, and her granddaughter Marjorie "Betsy" Bateman, all of Mandeville.

She was also preceded in her death by her parents, Thomas Colter and Emma Brumfield, and her sister, Gwen Brumfield Ellzey.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday July 4th from 10 am until the funeral service at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jerry Barlow and Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
