Cecil C Ellzey, a retired executive of the Bogalusa Community Medical Center, died Thursday at his home. He was 79. Mr Ellzey was born in Tylertown, Mississippi and lived in Franklinton, Louisiana for the past 53 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr Ellzey served in the Army as a pilot during World War II. After the war he was active in the Louisiana National Guard for 32 years and retired a colonel in 1979. In the Guard Mr Ellzey was commander of Franklinton's Battery B of the 105 Anti-Aircraft Artillery and Bogalusa's 139 Armored Cavalry and the 205 Engineer Battalion. He later served as director of both logistics and personnel and administration for the Louisiana National Guard at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans. Mr Ellzey was chief executive officer of Bogalusa Community Medical Center for 32 years. He was a past president of the Louisiana Hospital Association and the Louisiana National Guard Association. He is survived by his wife Margie Nell Ellzey; daughter, Cecily Bateman of Mandevillel, Louisiana; and a grandchild. A funeral will be held today at 10:30 am at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton. Visitation will begin at 9 am Burial will be in Ellis Cemetery in Franklinton with full military honors.
