James Colden Denman was born to Amanda Marsalis and James Evander Denman on July 6, 1875.
He married Lelia Fortenberry of Walthall County on June 2, 1901. They had four children:
Myrtle (Patrick Joseph) McGeever
Mayme Clyde (Marette) Heidenreich
Willie Marie (John Alexander) McNeil
James Colden Denman, Jr.
Dr. Denman and his wife were killed in an automobile accident on September 13, 1941 near Ita Bena, Mississippi.
