Woodson J. Bond, age 88, born October 30, 1919, a resident of Franklinton died at 6:30 PM Friday at his residence. Son of Jewel Edgar and Isabel Penny Bond. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Franklinton.

Survived by 2 daughters, Joy Bond Welch and Jenene Bond Hatfield, both of Baton Rouge; 2 sons, Johnny Bond of Richmond, VA and Reggie Bond of Willis, TX; 2 brothers, C.F. Bond of Wilmer and Jewel Bond of Baton Rouge; 2 sisters, Irma Pettitt of Franklinton and Nelda Sheridan of Bogalusa; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gwen Varnado Bond and a grandson Troy Seal.

Daughter of William Fred and Hazel Fussell Varnado.
A beautician and resident and native of Franklinton, she died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996, at St. Tammany Hospital, Covington. She was 76. Visiting was held at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and will be after 9 a.m. Thursday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m, Thursday, conducted by Dr. Gene Richards and the Rev. David Murray. Burial in Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton. Survived by husband, Woodson Bond, Franklinton; two daughters, Joy Bond Welch and Jenene Bond Hatfield, both of Baton Rouge; two sons, Johnny Bond, Richmond, Va., and Reggie Bond, Houston; a brother, Clayton Varnado, Franklinton; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Franklinton.
