June 3, 1901 - February 1, 1982
Tony was born in Los Angeles, California the son of Arthur Marullo and Emma Cooper and started his professional boxing career in 1920. During his career that lasted 15 fifteen years he won 45 bouts, lost 39 and 3 by decision. On July 13, 1925 he fought Paul Berlenbach in Newark, New Jersey in a bout that lasted 9 out of 12 rounds. Winning that fight made him the light heavyweight champion of the world. He died in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana.
