Rev Jerald J. Cupp, 64, a resident of Franklinton, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2003 at his residence.
He was ordained into the ministry on April 19, 1998 at Trinity Baptist Church in Franklinton and later served as pastor of the Sunnyhill Baptist Church until November of 2001. He also served as interim pastor at the Thomas Baptist Church for approximately six months.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from May 1957 until discharge in May 1961.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Kelley Cupp of Franklinton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Ray Myers, Debra and Ricky Byrd, Dana and Alton Gerald, and Denise and Mike Gilmore all of Franklinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Harriet Cupp of Franklinton and Derald Cupp of Slidell; 12 grandchildren and spouses, Michelle and Clint Galloway, Misty and James Bickham, Casey Byrd, Melany and Johnny Rochester, Amanda and Dougie Taylor, Allen Dupre III, Kristal Cupp, Megan Gilmore, Mallory Gilmore, Tanner Westmoreland, Kristina Gerald and Madelyn Cupp; 5 great-grandchildren, Alana Byrd, James Alton Taylor, Tre' Rochester, Alexzander Dupre, and James Hayes Bickham II; a sister, Wilma Baxter of Pierce City, MO; two brothers, Bob Cupp of California and Don Cupp of Monet, MO; two special nephews, Beau Edwards and Perry Stewart and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In Proverbs 18:24, the Lord says "There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." That person for Rev. Jerald Cupp is Jerry Brumfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Cupp and his mother, Faye Fenski; two brothers, Leon Cupp and Rex Cupp.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 2 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Statham and Rev. Tim Gay officiating.
Pallbearers were Casey Byrd, Allen Dupre III, Beau Edwards, Byron Brumfield, Charles Brumfield and Scott Brumfield.
Honorary pallbearer was Tanner Westmoreland.
Interment was in the Springhill-Magee Cemetery.
