Graveside services for Donald Ray Phillips, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Downsville Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Lanier officiating.
Donald was born on January 24, 1933 in Ouachita Parish and passed away on September 14, 2018 in West Monroe. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther G. Phillips and Earnestine Perritt Phillips Fluitt; brother, Ellis Phillips; and sister, Louise P. Dorthlon.
Donald retired after over 23 years with the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander and served in the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing volleyball. Donald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth B. Phillips; his sons, Donald R. Phillips, Jr. and his wife Eva of Praireville, La. and Steven W. Phillips and his wife Deanna from Norfolk, Va.; grandchildren, Steven, Michelle, and James Phillips, Christina P. Montazeri, and Elizabeth Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Wesley Phillips, Preston Montazeri, and Clarissa Phillips. He is also survived by his sister, Elvie Lee P. Bedsole.
