Helen Elizabeth Fant, native of Port Arthur, Texas and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died Monday, November 23, 2015. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Flora McDonald Fant and Robert Errol Fant, Port Arthur. She is survived by William Life Jamieson, Chattanooga, Tennessee and Bonnie Jamieson Culverhouse, Minden, Louisiana and by cousins Milton Bell, Beaumont, Texas and Audrey Bell Borel, Dallas, Texas. Preceding her in death were special friends Mary Louise Life, Baton Rouge; Martha Jamieson, Minden; and Majorie Johnson Moore, Port Arthur. Helen was a graduate of the University of Texas and of Louisiana State University, teaching five years in Port Arthur and 33 years in the Kinesiology Department at LSU. She was a long-time member of the University Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge where there will be a memorial service on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 10 am with visitation following the service. Helen was a resident of St. James Place and was very grateful for the kind loving care she received there from both friends and employees. “The wonder of the world, the beauty and the power, the shapes of things, their colours, lights and shades — these I saw.
