Funeral services for Sharon Ann Hughes “Susie” will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Willie T. Cripps officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Ruston. Susie was a resident of Kirbyville, Mo. She passed away on November 30, 2017. Susie was born on January 20, 1958 in Ruston, La to Roxie and Willie B. Hughes. She was named by her big brother Billy after the song “Wake Up Little Susie”. She attended schools in Ruston, La and graduated from Ruston High School. Susie loved people and chose to work in different hospital settings where she could be of service. She moved to Missouri in 1995 and pursued other options where she could always work with people. Susie was a huge animal lover and was always taking in new puppies or kittens that had nowhere else to go (she was a true Brooks).
Susie was preceded in death by her mother, Roxie Ann Brooks Hughes, her brother Willie B. Hughes, Jr, and first husband, Stewart Rabon. She is survived by her father, Willie B. Hughes, Sr. and wife Jean, niece Amanda Hughes McMillian and husband John, nephews Jamie Hughes and wife Melissa, and Christopher Hughes and wife Jessica, and her fiancé Larry Gier; step sisters: Sheila Burnett of Abilene, Texas and Deb Cruise of Henderson, Texas; step brothers: Kevin Creech of Ruston and Shannon Creech of Rocky Branch and many, many fur babies. She also leaves behind many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins and other extended family.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Hughes, Jamie Hughes, Clint Brooks, John McMillian, Michael Cripps and Matt Hamblin.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, December 4, 2017 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston.
