Oscar E Alford, 72, Dies; Rites In West Monroe
Funeral services for Oscar E Alford, 72, of Winnfield were held at 3:30 pm Tuesday at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev Calvin Phelps officiating assisted by Rev Joe Mongle. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr Alford died Sunday, December 3, 1972 in a local hospital following a long illness. He was a retired life insurance and real estate salesman for A J Lester Co. A native of McComb, Mississippi, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, a Mason and a Shriner and a member of the Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include wife, Mrs Oscar E Alford of Winnfield; son Alton Thompson of Winnfield; daughters Mrs Thomas R Crosby of Cocoa, Florida and Mrs Gloria Godbee of Valdosta, Georgia; brothers Sam Alford and Tom Alford both of McComb, Mississippi; sisters Miss Smythe Alford and Mrs Lanelle Pottroff, both of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ray Davis, C E Pickering, Ed Grigg, Marvin Haley, Rodney Haley, and Alvin Haley
