Funeral services for Avis Kennedy Waller 96 were at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in the Chapel at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Visitation was at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. Prior to the service with burial at Farmerville City Cemetery. "Miss Avis", as she was affectionately known to so many, was born in Union Parish on July 17, 1913, to William Henry and Willie Ann Kennedy. Mrs. Waller passed away in Farmerville on Sunday October 11, 2009 at Arbor Rose assisted living. Prior to her death, she also resided at Timberlake Healthcare Facility for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Waller, one grandson, James Herbert Taylor and one great-grandson, Everist Cline, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors are daughters, LaJean Black & husband, Herbert of Monroe; Joanne Bearden of Ruston; Carol Ross & husband Joe of Tennessee & one sister, Zelia Kennedy Reeder of Shreveport. Surviving grandchildren are Herbert Kenny Black of Niceville, FL; Lynette Taylor Kelly of Boston, Mass; Kerry Wayne Black of Monroe; Melody Taylor Wood of Farmerville: Patrick Taylor of Choudrant; Kayla Mizanin of Lake Zurich, ILL; Sharilynne Cline of Columbus, Ohio: fourteen great-grandchildren & seven great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Herbert Kenney Black, David Doughty, Kerry Wayne Black, Kolby Black, Patrick Taylor, & Asen Poole.

Honorary Pallbearers were Emory Gillum, Keith Kenley, Kerry Hill, Judge James Marion Dozier, Stein Baughman & Don Nyegaard.

Mrs. Waller was a life long resident of Union Parish where she served as a member of Business Professional Women, Union General Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary, order of the Eastern Star, Union Parish Triad Association & at the time of her husband's death fulfilled his term in Office as Justice Of The Peace. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church in Farmerville at the time of her death.
